The Great Northern Trek, and Other Adventures

It seemed like there was no way it could ever happen. And yet, God stepped in the way he loves to do, making our impossible possible. Ever since our time in Canada came to its abrupt end in 2019, we’ve dreamed of going back to share with our friends how God used that season and has been faithfully guiding us through our next steps. In April, we had the unexpected and welcome opportunity to do just that. Finding tickets well below half their usual price, we herded our family onto a plane (good practice!) and flew back to our northern home, where a friend so graciously opened his home to us. We spent every day reconnecting with dear friends, including some of our financial partners. We had the opportunity to worship together with NorthLife Church and share about the ministry vision God has put on our hearts. It was also a tremendous privilege to be invited to a new church plant holding their inaugural missions committee meeting to share with them and pray together for the gospel to reach the nations in Fort McMurray. We also held a couple small group meetings inviting friends to become ministry partners as well.

Where we had been hoping for closure, God gave us something much more precious: a bridge back. We are happy to report that we now have more than 10% of our total financial goal coming from friends in Alberta! This means that it will not only be possible, but necessary to return occasionally. Praise God! The children all thoroughly enjoyed the visit. While Ezra doesn’t remember much from our time living there, he emphatically took ownership of his birth town, and is an Edmonton Oilers fan for life! Thank you to our NorthLife family for your hospitality, encouragement, friendship, and prayers.

Some other ministry highlights from the past few months:

  • Participated in three missions conferences in three states

  • Suz spoke at two ladies events and two Sunday School classes (Which do you think presented a greater challenge?)

  • We have reached 63% of our monthly financial goal, with more coming soon!

Please pray:

  • For upcoming meetings, VBS programs, and training modules this summer

  • To reach 100% support by the holidays and begin language school in January.
